Laboratories of First Year BPTH

1. Electrotherapy

Aim:

  • To inoculate the electrotherapeutic approach for getting faster, finer results and hence it leads to healthy and pain-free life for patients.

Objective:

  • To describe the Physiological effects, Therapeutic uses, indication & contraindications of various Low/ Medium & High-Frequency modes / Actinotherapy
  •  Describe the Physiological Effects & therapeutic uses of various therapeutic ions & topical pharmaco-therapeutic agents to be used for the application of iontophoresis & phonophoresis
  • To acquire the skills of application of the Electrotherapy modes on models, for the purpose of Assessment & Treatment.
  • To acquire an ability to select the appropriate mode as per the tissue- specific &area specific application.

2. Kinesiotherapy

Aim:

  • To inoculate the kinesiotherapeutic approach for getting strength, endurance, accurate movements, and balance and hence it leads to healthy and strong life for patients.

Objective:

  • To demonstrate starting and derived positions to the patients for good posture
  •  To Teach mat exercises for balance
  • To teach stretching exercises to improve flexibility
  • To increase strength demonstration of resisted exercises

Institutional Objectives:

    At the end of the training in Bachelors Course students should be able to:

Knowledge:

    Theoretical/Factual:
  • PO-1. Equipped with adequate, trustworthy and up-to-date knowledge of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
  • PO-2. Equipped with the knowledge to plan and practice the Physiotherapy program, making use of the right assessment techniques on the healthy, the the handicapped and the ones in need of physiotherapy.
  • PO-3. Equipped with the knowledge related with physiotherapy practice

Goal 1:

Is a national leader, training physiotherapy for evidence-based, collaborative clinical practice.

  • Course Outcome 1a: Is nationally recognized.

Goal 2:

Prepares academic doctoral students for leadership roles in advanced clinical practice, basic, clinical and translational research, and academic programs in health care.

    clinical practice, academic institutions, and/or research.
  • Course Outcome 2b: Has graduates who maintain an active publishing and presentation record.

Goal 3:

Promotes faculty and student engagement in basic science, clinical, and translational research and supports dissemination of new knowledge.

  • Course Outcome 3a: Maintains and/or increases extramural funding research program.
  • Course Outcome 3b: Conducts scholarly activity and disseminates results at local, state, national, and international levels.

Goal 4:

Models best practice in patient care, provides clinical education for students and continuing education for practicing rehabilitation specialists, and encourages evidence-based practice in the profession.

  • Performs quality assessment of clinical competency to ensure best
    clinical practice.
  • Attracts, hires, and retains trained clinical educators with clinical
    specialty/certifications and previous experience working with students and patient populations.
  • Promotes professional development of staff and students.
  • Sponsors CME-approved continuing medical education programs for practicing physical therapists and other healthcare practitioners.

Goal 5:

Promotes the physical therapy profession, and provides healthcare education, outreach, and clinical care to the general population, including the underserved.

  • Expands and supports students’ and faculty members’ activities in community-based, cross-disciplinary university-community partnerships.
  • Develops outreach activities for students and faculty to address areas of community need.
